Boson - Audio Editor App Reviews

Actually its a rather nice app. The UI is usually fast to respond on most projects but it struggles on bigger projects. For example the initial waveform display on a 3 hrs (3.6 GB) project file takes about 30 seconds with no visual feedback (like a progress bar). Silence detection is quite useful on web radio recordings. Once Boson has marked all non-silence parts of the track you can split and export into several formats. Hopefully the developer keeps up the good work. This app definately has its potential!

I tried a bunch of audio editors but this one has all the features I need and works smoothly on my Retina MBP. In a recent update the devs added support for 3rd party audio plugins so you’re not limited to the built in audio effects any more. Which is a huge plus and gives a lot of freedom!

Boson has an attractive interface and has all the features I need. I find it much easier to use than the popular open source editor I had been using.

Very poor decsion not to include iCloud Drive integration.

I wanted a quick and easy recorder for doing quick voice over work and scratch tracks. Now I use this for those tasks and so much more. The strength is the format flexibility with all the sample rates and bit depths. Only downside, it’s a little pricey, but worth it for solid performance. LOVE the metadata section. A great addition to my media creation suite.

I kinda like this program, I mean the look and feel ( had to find something new to use, since Audacidy was broken in El Capitan ). I don’t like not haveing a working file, ( must save to a music file?) I don’t like that the program crashes EVERYTIME I use it. The first two recordings I finished recording and started working on the file before saving, big mistake, like I said IT ALLWAYS CRASHES! Lost all my work, had to rerecord… I need it to work like a race horse everytime.

An overall solid app. Offers what you would expect from an audio recorder.
